With Prof. Dr. Chih-Bang Hsiao/ Asia University, Taichung, Taiwan and Prof. Dr. Irmgard Schroll-Decker/ OTH Regensburg. Similarly to Germany, Taiwan has a rapidly aging population. Therefore Taiwan launched the long-term care plan 2.0 (2017-2026), which focuses on person-centered and community-based services. One of the intended aims is to offer a package of care following the ABC scheme: Integrated Community Service (A), Long-term Care Service Institution (B) and long-term care corner store (C). Despite the long-term care policy Taiwanese families still need migrant care workers to cover their demand. An unregulated market has emerged alongside the state system. The talk gives insights into the migrant caregivers working and living in Taiwan. Results of interviews with government social workers, caregivers and NGOs are included in the presentation.

Prof. Dr. Chih-Bang, Assistant Professor at the Asia University Taiwan, PhD in Germany. His teaching and research areas are Community social work, senior community caring and domestic violence.
